This is how it works - a domain registrar has the power to register domain names for their customers, but their duties don't stop with registration. Once your domain has been registered, the company has a responsibility to watch over the domains that have been registered through them. Most registrars provide domain name registration for a small fee - prices vary depending on the company. Registration may come with free hosting, or as part of a package deal.
Even though registering a domain name is relatively straightforward, not all services offer the same quality of service - some registrars do better than others so it pays to conduct a bit of research before making a commitment. A domain registrar that also provides hosting services may be exactly what you need for your website. Comparing hosting services, however, can be a little trickier than comparing simple domain registration, but if you do your homework it's possible to find a hosting company that won't let you down.
